I have an Hp laptop with 3.0 and it has ALWAYS worked with our HP J4580 printer with 2.0. However, it has not been used in several months and now doesn't work with that printer, though another older computer we have with 2.0 still works with this printer. I spent the last 2 days with HP support on-line, 5 different techs since our sessions would always expire while they were either trying to install or uninstall the printer. In all I think I was on-line with them for 10-12 hours! I was most appreciative that they tried to help but alas there was no success. They suggested I get a 3.0 to 2.0 adapter or new cable and try that.
